About the Programme:

BCA is a new age degree course in the field of Computer Applications. The duration of the course is normally three years. After completion of the BCA Course, students can opt for masters or they can even try for job opportunities.

Bachelor of Computer Applications is a course that is customized for students wishing to shine in the field of computers and information technology. If you are interested in computer related field, then BCA is the perfect course for you.

BCA graduates can start up their career in either Government sector or private sector since there are a lot of employment opportunities in both these sectors. Aim:

            The BCA Course aims at inculcating skills as demanded by the global software industry through interactive learning process. This also includes team-building skills, audio-visual presentations and personality development programmes. The programme enhances analytical and communication skill besides inculcating the virtues of self-study. The Curriculum has been designed to cater to the ever changing demands of information technology along with necessary inputs from the industry.

          The objective of the course is to develop skilled manpower in the various areas of information technology like;

BCA Course is an undergraduate program where students are exposed to various areas of computer applications including the latest developments in the industry. It offers an important preparatory level graduate course especially in the context of IT industry. The Department of Computer Application envisions imparting high eminence skills in software development to excel in Software Industry and to train the students to develop the soft skills with global standards and enhance their knowledge in Information Technology.

Our course covers all fundamentals, working and advanced concepts that provide a learning environment where students understand and are able to apply the most contemporary and essential tools needed for the in-depth knowledge of computer science.

The course is divided across six semesters in three years. The curriculum is designed in such a way as to teach the vertical and horizontal aspects which enable the students to get groomed for the IT industry. The students are provided with training to design, develop, and implement computer applications using modern information technology tools.

Programme Eligibility:

Students seeking admission to the Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) program should have passed Higher Secondary / Senior Secondary / 10 + 2 or equivalent with 40% aggregate from any recognised Board or Council in any discipline. Students who have fulfilled these conditions will be considered to have met the BCA eligibility criteria.

A small section of the curriculum of BCA is generalist in nature with focus on the main subjects of computer applications coming in from Semester 1. The approach to fundamentals of computers is a vital section wherein the basic attributes of computers and its applications are discussed. Programming languages are initiated in Semester 1 with the bulk of it coming in Semester 2 and later.

 

Admission:

Mostly, the admission to BCA course is done through the entrance test. Various Universities/Institutions conduct its own entrance exam for granting admission to their colleges. Some colleges provide admission on the basis of merit prepared by the score of qualifying examination (12th).

Scope:

There is a huge scope in the field of BCA. One can do job or can go for higher studies after the completion of course.

Self employment option is also available. You can do freelancing or develop your own software if you have that many skills. There are many software MNCs (Multi National Companies) which provide job to the BCA graduates. If candidate has a work experience and all the necessary required skills then he/she can hold good positions in MNCs

If you want deep knowledge in this field, then you can go for advanced courses such as MCA and PhD. MCA can be specialized in systems management, systems development, management information system, etc. After the completion of MCA, candidate can also get the job of lecturer in any of the reputed institutions.

System engineer 

A system engineer develops, test and evaluate software, circuits and personal computer.

Programmer 

The duty of programmer is to write code for software. A programmer is primarily works in the computer language such as Assembly, COBOL, C, C++, C#, Java, Lisp, Python, etc.

Web developer 

A web developer is a programmer who specializes in the development of World Wide Web applications. The role of web developer is to build and maintain websites. A web developer must have skills in HTML/XHTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, etc.

System Administrator 

A System administrator is responsible for setting up and maintaining the system or server.

Software developer 

The sole responsibility of software developer is to develop software that ease the tasks of the people and enable to perform work efficiently. A software developer also installs, test and maintains the software.
